Mass Layoffs Report - Quarterly

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported today that employers initiated 1,330 mass layoffs in the third quarter of 2008, causing 218,158 workers to lose their jobs for at least 31 days. The BLS also reported that 181,386 workers filed initial claims for state unemployment benefits. [more]
